Stuart Hunt, the Radiation Safety Officer for the University of Alberta, sees that Canadian industries need a comprehensive solution for specialized radiation services. He takes his pioneering spirit and starts Stuart Hunt & Associates, a "one stop shop" for radiation safety needs.

The doors to Stuart Hunt & Associates open in June. This company is the first of its kind, dedicated to providing specialized radiation safety services for Canada's industries.

Stuart Hunt & Associates teams up with Ludlum Measurements Inc. to represent their radiation detection equipment in Canada. Today, LMI offers one of the largest lines of radiation detection instrumentation available from any one company.

Sean Hunt, Stuart's son, shares his father's passion for radiation safety and joins the Stuart Hunt & Associates team.

Stuart Hunt & Associates teams up with Troxler, the worldwide leader in precision quality control and measurement equipment for the highway and construction industries, to service their portable gauges in Canada.

Stuart Hunt & Associates opens a new office in St. Albert, Alberta including an on-site training centre.

Stuart Hunt & Associates expands to central Canada, opening up an office in Toronto, Ontario. Stuart Hunt & Associates under subcontract, provides calibration and repair services to the Department of National Defence’s fleet of radiation detection instrumentation.

Sean Hunt takes over as owner of Stuart Hunt & Associates. He continues his father’s commitment to providing outstanding customer service and quality products to Canadian businesses.

When Bruce Power begins its historic refurbishment of Bruce Power Nuclear Reactors 1 & 2, it chooses Stuart Hunt & Associates as its partner to calibrate and repair the fleet of radiation detection equipment used. This refurbishment project is the first of its kind in the world.

Stuart Hunt & Associates proudly teams up with InstroTek, an industry leader in products and technology development for the construction and geotechnical engineering industry, to sell and service their portable gauges in Canada.

Stuart Hunt & Associates moves to a new distribution facility in Mississauga, Ontario. This facility is complete with 2 calibrations bays for survey meter calibration, calibrations bays for portable gauges as well as a training centre for on-site radiation safety training.

July 17, 2009, the Stuart Hunt & Associates' Mississauga location achieves ISO 9001:2008 certification covering their entire range of products and services

Stuart Hunt & Associates joins forces with Eckert & Zeigler, one of the world’s largest producers of radioactive materials, to sell their standards and solutions line to Canadian customers. 

In September of 2011, Stuart Hunt & Associates, Mississauga location achieves ISO17025:2005 accreditation for its radiation survey meter calibration services in support of Canada’s nuclear industry.

Building on its successful partnership with Eckert & Ziegler, Stuart Hunt & Associates begins representing the full range of medical imaging sources to the Canadian nuclear medicine community.

Stuart Hunt & Associates expands the scope of their ISO 17025 accreditation to include the calibration of portable density moisture gauges in support of Canada’s geotechnical industry.

May 1, 2016 – Stuart Hunt & Associates moves from their location at 20 Rayborn Crescent in St. Albert to a new 14,000 square foot facility in Edmonton.

April 1, 2018 – Stuart Hunt & Associates purchases Spencer Manufacturing

January 14, 2019 – Stuart Hunt, Founder of Stuart Hunt & Associates passes away.

March 17, 2020 – Stuart Hunt & Associates is declared an essential service during the Covid-19 pandemic due to the important regulatory services they provide industry and the medical community.

March 5, 2022 – Stuart Hunt & Associates celebrates 40 years in business.
