alphaDur Mini II UCI Hardness Tester

Fast and Easy Hardness Testing

Made in Germany and designed and manufactured by Hardness Testing experts, the alphaDUR mini II is the 4th generation of the alphaDUR series which has been successfully used in hardness testing for 10+ years. Operating the alphaDUR mini II is very easy because all information is shown on the large LCD display. Hardness scale and material can quickly be changed by special keys. Measurements can be done fast and accurately and the measured value displayed directly after the test load has been applied. A test load between 0.3 kg (HV 0.3) and 10 kg HV 10) can be chosen depending on the application and the sample surface.

Probe Selection

The selection of load is based on:

• Thickness
• Surface Finish
• Materials Grain Size
• Hardness Range

The most common probes are:

• 5 kg (49N) - typically recommended for machined surfaces and materials in the HRC range.
• 10 kg (98N) - typically for pipe and materials in the Brinell or Rockwell B range
• Lower loads are recommended for plated parts and those with surface treatments, case hardened materials, etc...

*The lower the load the better the finish needs to be and more critical handling of the probe
*For best results, calibrate to a sample of the material being tested. The sample should be tested with a regular hardness tester first and made into a secondary standard.
