Source Retrieval Training Course
Facilitated by Source Production & Equipment Co. (SPEC):
Objective: The purpose of this training is to fully acquaint the user with the potential hazards of radiation and how to safely retrieve a sealed source assembly that will not return to the shielded position within an exposure device.
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will be able to:
- Identify main causes of emergencies and initial response procedures
- Advance Preparations, initial response procedures, on-site activities and post retrieval actions
- Knowledge and use of retrieval equipment
- Dealing with the Media
Course Hours: 8 a.m – 5 p.m, includes an hour for lunch (Lunch will be provided).
Basic Schedule: Morning classroom lectures and afternoon practical exercises.
Attire: Casual, suitable for movement during practical exercises and layers for classroom (in case of hot or cold).
What to bring to class: Students should bring their issued passive dosimetry. Electronic dosimetry will be provided to everyone involved in practical exercises.
